There are so many online games, first person shooters, puzzle games,but I am going to assume you mean an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game).


When it gets down to this, you have a category in which you p2p, or pay to play, or games which have other ways of making money, like buying items in game for real cash.





For the money, World Of Warcraft is your best bet, fun to play, very Immersive, and addicting. Another good one is DAOC: Dark Age of Camelot. There is also Diablo II.





Now for free games, I personally play Conquer Online, its really fun and anybody can play this is have friends 13-70 years old and it has a good pvp battle system.





http://www.onrpg.com/ is a site with links and information on thousands of online rpgs, free/ pay 2 play and everything.
